 Re: Revised APM 241, Faculty Administrators (Positions Less Than 100% Time)

The Office of the President has issued revised Academic Personnel Policy 241, Faculty Administrators (Positions Less Than 100% Time), effective January 1, 2014.

The new revisions bring APM 241 into alignment with Regents Policy 2307 and the Compendium of Universitywide Review Processes for Academic Programs, Academic Units, and Research Units (currently under review).

New language deals only with multi campus research units and specifies that:

(1)   authority to appoint Search Committee members and to appoint MRU Directors, previously granted to the Chancellor and/or to the Vice Chancellor of Research, has been changed to reside with the President;

(2)   the President shall obtain the input of the Academic Council Chair, the Chancellor of the host campus, and of all Chancellors whose campuses are part of the MRU; and

(3)   Multi-Campus Faculty Administrators serve at the discretion of the President and may therefore be terminated by the President at any time following consultation with the Chancellors at the host and collaborating campuses and the Chair of the Academic Council. All administrator positions are "at will" employees. Language confirming that condition clarifies appointment expectations.

The revised policy is available online at:
