Faculty Salary Range Adjustment and Compliance

To: Academic Senate Faculty and Adjunct Faculty

Dear Colleagues:

As University of California employees, we are required to complete a series of mandatory trainings each year, either online or in person. These trainings help educate new and remind existing campus colleagues of our obligations to be compliant with laws, policies and the UC Code of Ethical Conduct. Some trainings have been implemented either as a matter of policy or due to a legal or regulatory mandate, such as the sexual harassment UC Preventing Harassment & Discrimination training for supervisors and faculty.

As shared with your Deans, effective October 1, 2024, salary scales for ladder faculty will be increased by a 4.2% general range adjustment. Health Sciences Compensation Plan (HSCP) faculty will also have the same adjustments to the scales (X and X prime). While the President’s memo did not mandate a systematic increase to off-scale salary components, it did indicate that increases to off-scale components remained the authority of individual campuses. On this campus, the off-scale salary for ladder-rank faculty will receive a special 4.2% increase to the off-scale dollar amount. Above Scale ladder-rank faculty will receive a 4.2% adjustment to the total salary.

The Interim Chancellor and the Interim Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost have directed that no discretionary compensation actions, such as the special 4.2% increase to the off-scale dollar increment, should be approved for ladder rank faculty unless they have completed the mandatory UC Cyber Security Awareness Fundaments and the UC Preventing Harassment & Discrimination by October 1, 2024. Ladder rank faculty who come into compliance after October 1, 2024 will have their off-scales adjusted as of the date the training is completed.

Directions on how to access the training or to verify your status are on Attachment A: Instructions to Access UC Preventing Harassment and Discrimination Training Course. Please direct any questions to Assistant Vice Chancellor Erika Chau.

Thank you for your assistance in meeting the goal of ensuring that all mandatory training is taken and completed in a timely manner by all appropriate University employees.
